Europe's railway network is growing and modernizing rapidly. For manufacturers wishing to supply railway vehicles, signaling or components to this growing market, there is an entry ticket: IRIS certification.
ISO/TS 22163 (IRIS) is an ISO 9001-based special quality management system standard developed for the railway industry. It is considered virtually mandatory for suppliers selling railway products or services to Europe. It is effectively a prerequisite for working with major railway main industries such as Alstom and Siemens Mobility.
A critical advantage of IRIS is that it provides registration in a supplier database managed by UNIFE (the Association of the European Rail Industry). Being included in this database means that railway main industries recognize you as a supplier.
In addition to the requirements of ISO 9001, the standard also covers railway-specific topics: project management, configuration management and, in particular, RAMS (reliability-availability-maintainability-safety) and life cycle cost (LCC) analyses. These technical disciplines are vital for managing both safety and total cost in long-lived railway projects.
As 2M Danışmanlık, with our experts who know the requirements specific to the railway sector — including RAMS and LCC analyses — we manage your IRIS certification process from start to finish and prepare you for the European railway market.
