What Is Accreditation and Why Should Your Certificate Come from an Accredited Body?

You have obtained a management system certificate — but is this certificate valid everywhere? The answer is more complex than most people think and rests on a single concept: accreditation.
Accreditation means that a certification body has been audited and authorized by an independent higher authority. In other words, the body issuing the certificate must itself have been audited and had its competence and impartiality confirmed. The true value of a certificate comes precisely from here.
A certificate obtained from a non-accredited body, even if it looks the same at first glance, may not be recognized internationally. Your customers, tender authorities or business partners abroad may question such a certificate; in the worst case, the certificate may become useless despite the effort and money you have spent on it.
Internationally recognized accreditation bodies include organizations such as UKAS (United Kingdom), DAkkS (Germany), IAS (USA), TÜRKAK (Turkey) and NAC. As of 2026, the international recognition of these bodies is evaluated through the new GAC umbrella formed by the merger of IAF and ILAC.
Therefore, the most critical question to ask when choosing a certification body is: 'Who granted your accreditation and is it internationally recognized?'
As 2M Danışmanlık, with our impartial position, we guide you in selecting the most suitable accredited certification body and ensure that the certificate you obtain carries genuine value.
